St. Patrick’s Day
Saint Patrick was a
5th-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as
the "Apostle of Ireland", he is the primary patron saint of Ireland,
along with Saints Brigit and Columba.
We celebrate Roman Catholic
feast day of the patron saint of Ireland.
This Irish holiday is
always celebrated on March 17th, which is the day that Saint Patrick died. He
was a missionary way back in the 4th century who converted the Irish to
Christianity.
We wear green because it is
believed that Patrick used the shamrock to explain the holy trinity to the
pagan Irish.
